We employ two methods of pruning: cosmetic and renewal.

In cosmetic pruning, we tailor the outward appearance to establish either formal or naturalistic styles of pruning. Formal pruning achieves clean, tailored, symmetrical trees and shrubs. Naturalistic pruning utilizes hand pruners to achieve a less structured form providing control without the use of shears.

Renewal pruning is either the regeneration of a plant that is overgrown and sparse or the creation of a new framework within the existing plant to promote healthy, new growth. It is important to note that boxwoods, Japanese maples, and hemlocks are healthier when pruned by hand, not with shears.
